Where does derma e® obtain its ingredients?
derma e® Natural Bodycare utilizes only the finest ingredients and sources these on the world market in order to ensure we receive the best ingredients available anywhere. Additionally, you may notice that derma e® invests in registered and proprietary ingredients, as these are sold by companies who substantiate their ingredient’s effectiveness with research. It also means that when we order a registered ingredient, we receive it in a standardized form, and thus there is more consistency from batch to batch with the final products we manufacture.

Do you test on animals or do your products contain animal-derived ingredients?
derma e® adheres to a strict Cruelty-Free Policy. We do not approve of animal testing. derma e® does not test our products or ingredients on animals, nor incorporate animal by-products as ingredients into any of our skin care formulations.

Do derma e®’s products contain fragrances?
While some of our products are fragrance-free, others contain essential oils that can be therapeutically effective, but also lend a unique fragrance to the product. Essential oils are natural and suited for most skin types. derma e® does not use perfumes, unnatural scents or harsh chemicals.

Are there parabens in derma e®’s products?
The paraben system of preserving personal care products is one of the most common methods used in our industry today. As some question has been raised recently within the medical community about whether parabens should continue to be used, derma e® Natural Bodycare has chosen to use alternative preservative systems recognized by the natural health industry as safe and effective.

Do your products contain sunscreen?
Based on the scientific research, derma e® believes that antioxidants are essential and effective as sun protection. We choose to enhance our products with significant amounts of antioxidants such as Astaxanthin, Ester-C®, Green Tea Extract, and Pycnogenol® which have been shown to naturally help protect and fortify the skin, helping the skin to resist the damaging effects of moderate amounts of sun exposure. However, for those who prefer a sunscreen product or those who spend extended amounts of time in the sun, derma e® now offers an antioxidant-enriched sunscreen moisturizer.

Are your products “alcohol free”?
derma e® Natural Bodycare utilizes plant alcohols in a few of our products, and this ingredient serves as an emulsifier that facilitates the mixing of ingredients within the formula. We do NOT use isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, because of its tendency to dry the skin.

Quality Control

derma e® products are cheaper than department store brands I use. Does this mean they are of lesser quality?

derma e® has always distributed our products through health food stores rather than departments stores. As the philosophy behind the development of the health food industry was to provide a quality product, with minimal packaging and at reasonable pricing, derma e® has always, and continues to this day, to ascribe to this same philosophy. derma e® has therefore been manufacturing quality products for many years and has over 30 years expertise within the natural skin care industry.

What derma e® does NOT do that adds to the cost of products purchased in department stores is to spend large sums of money on TV and fashion magazine advertising, expensive types of packaging, and the booths, merchandising materials and employees you see in each department store. How can I be sure your products are effective?
derma e® Natural Bodycare starts with scientific research and studies on all potential ingredients. Studies must demonstrate that specific ingredients are effective when applied topically to the skin. When a product formula is decided upon, the ingredients are sourced on the world market and only the very best quality ingredients are used. They must be free from radiation, pesticide residues, and microbial contamination. Each product is then carefully formulated with an effective amount of these active ingredients. These are then blended with effective carrier elements that transfer the benefits of key ingredients directly to your skin. Are your products safe?
derma e® formulates every product with ingredients that have been carefully researched, and are safe and effective for topical, external use. If there is any cause for concern, derma e® immediately seeks a replacement ingredient and reformulates the product utilizing a healthier, safer alternative.

Is there product information that is not included on the packaging?
Unlike some companies, derma e® has full-disclosure labeling, so all ingredients are listed. For over 20 years, derma e® has taken great pride in the quality of our natural ingredients, and in formulating products that are safe for consumers to use. What you read on the label is actually in the product, and just as importantly, what is in the product is always on the label.

Do you have a satisfaction guarantee on your products?
All derma e® Natural Bodycare products are satisfaction-guaranteed. If you are not satisfied with one of our products at the time you receive it, or if one of our products does not perform to your satisfaction, please return it to the store you bought it from for a refund or replacement. If you purchased the product directly from derma e®, you have 45 days in which to return the product.

I bought two jars of the same product. Why are they different colors?
derma e® uses natural ingredients and sometimes herbs or botanicals have slightly different characteristics such as color, depending upon the source and where those ingredients were grown. As a result, our products sometimes vary in color from batch to batch. You can be assured that derma e® tests each batch to ensure all meet the effectiveness level required of that product, but we do not add color just to ensure visual continuity. We feel that effectiveness of our products is paramount, and we continually make efforts to ensure you get the very best product possible.

There are so many products. How do I choose the right one for me?
derma e® Natural Bodycare has a line of products that covers the full-spectrum of skin care uses, and is suitable for all skin types and skin conditions. First, determine your skin type and decide what you want to accomplish in terms of results for your skin. Next, consult our Skin Type Chart. The products are categorized according to your skin type and you can select from amongst the products listed there to try first.

If you are trying to achieve skin that radiates health and well being, be sure to start with a quality facial cleanser, follow with a toner to close your pores, remove cleanser residue and balance your skin’s pH, and then follow with a nutrient-rich moisturizer. Do this morning and evening on a regular basis. Exfoliating twice a week is also beneficial as it encourages younger-looking and new healthy skin cells to emerge.

What do you recommend for sensitive skin?
Please consult our Skin Type Chart. Under the Sensitive heading on the chart, you will see the best indication of derma e® products considered safe for sensitive skin. In general, derma e®’s Pycnogenol® range of products are some of the safest and most effective products to try when your skin is sensitive and reactive.

Do you recommend a moisturizer for blemish-prone skin?
No matter what type of skin you have, moisturizing is important. They key is to find the correct moisturizer for your skin type. Remember that adding oil and moisture, or fluid, are two different things. Be sure to look for a moisturizer with reduced oil content that helps to rebalance the natural oil production capabilities of your own skin.

derma e® has two excellent moisturizers for blemish-prone skin. The Clear Skin 3 – Problem Skin Moisturizer helps reduce clogged pores and bacterial infection associated with blemishes, while also helping to rebalance the oil production capabilities of your skin. derma e®’s Age-Defying Day Crème is also highly recommended because of the super antioxidant content that helps to optimally nourish the skin. In doing so, it helps rebalance oil production, reduce inflammation, and also protect your skin from future damage that can be caused by our environment, such as pollution and exposure to the elements.

Use of derma e® products

What should I do if I am sensitive to most skin care products?
If you are using any skin care product for the first time, we suggest you test a small amount on the inside of your arm or underneath the angle of your jaw line to eliminate the possibility of an allergic reaction or individual sensitivity. Allow at least 24 hours to pass. If no reaction has occurred, the product should be safe for you to use.

When will I see results?
Results vary depending on the product, skin condition and your skin type. Certain products will deliver results immediately, like our Microdermabrasion Scrub. Many skin care products will take approximately 3-4 weeks as your skin goes through one complete regeneration cycle. Treatment Products may take between 6-8 weeks for significant results to occur. The best way to maximize results is with regular usage: twice a day, everyday.

What if I have an allergic reaction to one of your products?
First, discontinue using the product immediately. You may return the product to the location where you purchased it for a full refund.
